Phablet is a mobile phone with the screen size ranging between 5 inch and 7 inch and performs the functions of both, a smartphone and a tablet. Samsung Galaxy Note released in October 2011 has the screen size of 5.3 inch and is the best example of a phablet. Superphone is the mobile phone with the screen size ranging between 4 inch and 5 inch and has the processor with the operating speed of 1 GHz and above.

Now-a-days, the use of mobile phones is not limited to making and receiving calls. Introduction of new age phablets in the market is expected to revolutionize the trend in cell phone developments. Advancements in technology have made it possible to perform all those functions via your cell phone that were only possible with the help of a personal computer. With continuous development in mobile phone apps, there is growing demand for mobile phones with larger screen size. This resulted in the advent of tablets with screen size ranging between 7 inches and 10 inches. However, it is a tedious task to carry a large sized tablet wherever one goes. Moreover, initially available tablets could not be used for calling purpose. Phablets came up as the best substitute for tablets. They include the features of both, mobile phones and tablets and are available in the screen size ranging between 5 inches and 7 inches which are handy. Superphones were developed with the need of smartphones with better operating speed and slightly larger screen size (4 inch to 5 inch). For instance, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 and HTC’s One X are the superphones with the display size of 4.7 inch and 4.8 inch respectively.

Larger size of displays complimented with powerful processor and high speed 3G/4G connectivity are resulting in the high demand for phablets and superphones. Despite the high price (similar to that of a smartphone), phablets and superphones are expected to bring revolution over cell phones.
