Psychology Education
In Spain, there are 30 Universities that teach Psychology. Five of them are private universities and the rest of them are public. There are eight more universities that offer certain psychology courses as an option for students studying other disciplines.
Admission requirements to study Psychology in a public university depend on the qualification gained in a National Exam for all High School students. In private universities, this is done only with internal criteria, such as an interview or an exam.
There is a Professional Association to regulate the work
of psychologists in Spain.
Employment opportunities are better for people who achieve a Master’s
degree than for those who only achieve a Licentiate (Bachelor) degree.
There are Professional Orientation Centres available
for students at Spanish universities. where students can perform professional
practice, participate in courses, or receive professional advice and information
about employment, etc.
Only a small percentage of psychology graduates work as psychologists.
Public employment is comparatively lower than for other disciplines. Most
psychologists have private consultancies or else they work in others areas.
