Psychology Education
In Romania there are 6 public and about 6 private universities
that teach psychology (http://www.psihologieonline.ro). At most universities
admission is based on an interview; a few universities have a written
exam. One year of study costs about 500E. All public universities offer
subsidies for the best students. Private universities also offers subsidies
but for a smaller number of students.
The accreditation of all institutions that provides educational services
at university level in Romania is controlled by ARACIS (http://www.aracis.ro/).
The exercise of professional psychology is regulated by an organic law,
connected to Bologna Accords. Regarding institutional policies, there
is an agreement between the main four state universities of Romania (Academic
Consortium of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara) that 70% of disciplines
are common base and 30% specific.
Recognised qualifications and majors fields of work are: Clinical Psychology
&Psychotherapy, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Educational
Psychology & Counselling. To obtain work as a professional psychologist,
graduates have to be certificated by Psychologists' College of Romania
(COPSI). It is necessary to complete a master program (2 years) or to
follow a professional supervision in order to obtain a professional certification
from COPSI.
